For the first time in nearly 16 years, The University of New Mexico is announcing a new partnership with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality as its on-campus dining services provider. UNM Food has selected Aramark Collegiate Hospitality to provide dining services through 2034. Current offerings will remain unchanged initially, with future changes shaped by student and campus feedback.

UNM-Aramark Transition FAQ’s

Amidst the exciting transition to a new dining services provider, The University of New Mexico and Aramark are committed to addressing your inquiries with clarity and care.

After thorough consideration, Aramark Collegiate Hospitality was selected as the partner that could best help the university to refresh the campus dining experience, incorporating student input and preferences, as well as aligning with UNM 2040.

Aramark has core competency is the management of dining services in higher education serving over 550 universities and colleges in America. They are consistently ranked No. 1 in their industry and considered one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies.” They have a proven track record of delivering industry-leading services and best practices.

Aramark will begin on July 1. You will see some Aramark personnel on campus learning more about our operations in the coming weeks/months.

This decision was made by a committee consisting of representation from campus business services,  students, faculty, and staff. Vendors answered UNM's request for proposals and later presented their dining programs to the committee. The committee evaluated submissions and selected a vendor who best addressed the business and programmatic needs of UNM.

Yes. Aramark provides a comprehensive benefits package. Current employees will be receiving a benefits overview. The college has partnered with Aramark to ensure a seamless transition. There will be no interruptions in pay or health benefits.

Yes. Current Chartwells employees are being offered positions here on campus with the Aramark Collegiate Hospitality team. Employees will be expected to pass a pre-employment background screening.

No. Each staff member’s current salary/wages and length of service (seniority) with the current vendor will be transitioned to Aramark. The transition process will involve some paperwork and benefits review as well as pre-employment background checks.

We will conduct an initial employee meeting on February 27 and 28. Hiring events will occur on April 2nd & 3rd and April 23rd & 24th in Hokona Ballroom next to the UNM Police Department. More hiring events and information may be scheduled and distributed in the coming weeks.

Aramark is responsible for determining the specific roles and responsibilities of its employees. All efforts will be made to keep the current roles.

Aramark provides a wide variety of training and development programs, which allow you to enhance your career opportunities within Aramark.

Aramark has assigned Jeremy Miller as the Resident District Manager for UNM Food. Jeremy will be introduced on February 27 and 28.

As an Aramark employee, your performance will be reviewed by an Aramark supervisor. Aramark has an established Performance Management Process. You will learn more about this in discussions with Aramark Human Resources and operations personnel.
